Washington, D.C. — Americans for Health Excellence (AFHE) today applauded the Trump Administration’s expansion of the TrumpRx initiative to include generic medicines through a new partnership involving entrepreneur Mark Cuban and Cost Plus Drugs. The expansion builds on the Administration’s effort to lower medication costs through direct-to-consumer purchasing pathways, which bypass the traditional insurance system.

Recent polling from Americans for Health Excellence and McLaughlin & Associates shows voters strongly support market-based reforms that lower costs without relying on government price-setting mandates. Voters consistently support solutions that improve affordability while preserving access, innovation, and patient choice.

Dr. Brad Wenstrup, Executive Director of Americans for Health Excellence, issued the following statement in response:

“American patients shouldn’t have to fight their way through a broken system just to afford the medicines their doctor prescribed. That’s been true in the exam room and it’s true in the halls of Congress—and it’s why work like this matters.

“Expanding TrumpRx to include generic medicines is a real, tangible step for real patients. For the millions of Americans who’ve been squeezed by insurance denials, sky-high copays, and coverage rules designed to confuse rather than help, this is the kind of direct relief they’ve been asking for.
