Americans for Health Excellence (AFHE) Executive Director Dr. Brad Wenstrup today applauded Senator Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), and Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) for introducing the Use Sovereignty to Reduce Rx (USTRx) Act to confront foreign governments that exploit American drug innovation while forcing U.S. patients to shoulder the cost:
“For decades, countries like Germany, Japan, and Switzerland have exploited American ingenuity, relying on our innovation while using price controls to shortchange the very patients and companies who make that innovation possible.
“Senator Sheehy’s bill gives our trade negotiators real tools to hold foreign governments accountable. Paired with Chairman Arrington’s House companion bill, this legislation builds on the President’s voluntary Most Favored Nation deals and would help further lower costs for American patients while ensuring the U.S. innovation pipeline remains the strongest in the world.”
A nationwide poll conducted by McLaughlin and Associates shows that 73% of Americans support legislation to end foreign “freeloading.”
